Study on the Oscillating Phenomenon of Welding Pool with Different Penetration States in Short-Circuiting GMAW

The oscillating phenomenon of the weld pool has a direct physical correspondence with its penetration state, which broad application prospects in monitoring states. This article studied characteristics short-circuiting gas metal arc welding (S-GMAW) different states based on high-speed photography system. results show that form liquid bridge electric explosion impact is “surface impact” S-GMAW. oscillation frequency decreases as size increases. Compared partially penetrated pool, boundary conditions fully had conditions, resulting higher amplitude and lower frequency. In S-GMAW, no difference voltage signal, caused by states, was observed.
